Mi Tjio
Mi Tjio was born in 1984 and raised in Perstorp, Skåne. Her parents originated from Hong Kong, where she completed her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. Tjio then immersed herself in textile crafts at Östra grevie Folk High School and futhered her education with a master’s degree in Textile in the extended field at Konstfack.
Tjio’s art is characherized by a wide range in dicsiplins, spanning visual culture, craftmanship, form and collage techniques to conversations revolving around analyzis of discourses around the world, the study of history and storytelling where historical frameworks and representation are key topics.
